old lines

Portraiture from Arnhem Land and Papua New Guinea

Country leaves its mark on people. It's in the lines of a face, in the way hands move, the way someone holds themselves. Those same lines get transferred to others through the generosity of people and the genuine sharing of space. That quiet dignity of a life lived in one place across many generations is becoming rarer to witness, as every interaction changes things.

I've been fortunate enough to be welcomed into some beautiful places, at an unhurried pace, where I can sit and capture without the pressure of a pose.
